So what did you do this weekend? I spent Saturday afternoon working on just a couple of cupboards in the kitchen. Here’s where it all began. I removed absolutely everything from the cupboard because I decided I was going to do a complete overhaul.
Next I applied adhesive contact paper to the “walls” of the cupboard and to the “floor.” Part of the goal of working on this project in the kitchen was to help my family more easily move in a new direction with our food choices. I thought making the cupboards a little nicer looking would help with that goal.
After the papers were all applied, of course the food could come back in. At our house, this means no artificial sweeteners and lots of protein, protein, protein.
The two baskets on the right are holding snack type items. This is the first place the kids look when they open the doors. They’re not too happy with their choices at the moment, but they’ll get used to it. Hopefully sooner rather than later.
I do have other cupboards in the kitchen where we keep dishes and cups/glasses. Also one above the stove. I considered lining all of the cupboards with the adhesive paper but really, it’s not that important to me. If it would bug you to have only one cupboard done, then by all means, do them all.
For me the important cupboard was the one where the food lives. I needed some encouragement to clean that out and start all over. Now I have a fresh place to go to when looking for something great to eat. For less than $20 at the home store for the paper liners I have some encouragement as we begin a new chapter on the road to better health.
What did you do this weekend? Have you ever started completely over in your kitchen? Just totally emptied the fridge and the cupboards and started over?

i love organizing the pantry. its awesome. somehow after a couple of months it’s always like a big pile in there!! love the paper — looks good. that’s an easy way to make a drawer look nice too, anywhere in the house.

Very nice mini-upgrade to the kitchen. Hubby and I have been talking about re-modeling the kitchen for years so maybe starting from the inside-out will get the process going

That kitchen pantry is pretty enough to display through glass doors! I love the idea of the contact paper on the walls too.

I’ve only ever used contact paper on the shelves, but I love the way it looks on the walls! I suppose wallpaper remnants could be used here as well. Thanks for sharing!
